It’s been a week since the YSK team made a safe return from ProPak Asia, and I am happy to report our worldwide trade show debut was an absolute success. Not only did YSK President Mike Pickard and Product Manager Tom Bowser do a stellar job representing our company on the global front – they made a fantastic effort to send home pictures and solid statistics throughout the course of the trip. From what they’ve shared, it’s obvious why they call ProPak “Asia’s comprehensive trade event for processing and packaging industries.”
Held June 15th-18th in Bangkok, Thailand, the 19th annual ProPak Asia was one of the biggest ProPak shows to date. This was our first time exhibiting at an international trade show, and we couldn’t have picked a better year or a better place to make our debut. Beyond our own personal success, this year’s ProPak boasts some stunning statistics overall:
- Exhibition space was a increased 15% to accommodate over 30,000 visitors from 60 countries.
- A record 53% of attendees arrived from outside Asia.
- Over 1,125 exhibitors marked the largest selection of vendors in any one ProPak to date.
- An estimated US$650 million in sales will be generated by the show, another all-time high.
More than ever, this year’s show attracted a large number of individuals who have an interest in improving energy efficiency, environment management and cost control. The “Go Clean, Go Green” theme welcomed vendors with concerns of environmental issues and who are addressing the problem with clean, environmentally friendly technology.
ProPack Asia teamed with Eco5, whose focus is on production and energy efficiency in multiple manufacturing divisions. Several trending themes among exhibitors included; production efficiency, carbon reduction, downgrading and recycling of materials.
The constant push by consumers and manufactures for cleaner and more efficient technology is prevalent throughout all corners of the world. This movement demonstrates an increasing interest for more eco-friendly, quality products for a healthier environment while maintaining careful and efficient production.
Not only did ProPak showcase a stellar commitment to emerging trends in sustainability and greener processes, it also featured an international brewing conference that brought together the region’s leading brewers, product manufactures and technology suppliers. DrinkTech and Lab & Test Asia pavilions were created to show the latest in measurement, quality assurance technology, test and laboratory.
Overall, this was a great opportunity for the YSK team to experience the packaging and processing industry at its best, share and discuss our custom products, and develop connections with great companies and individuals we may never have connected with stateside.
